FETAC LEVEL 6

COURSE DESCRIPTION

This is a one year course to enhance the knowledge and skills of persons wanting a career in the administration of businesses or other organisations. This course leads to a Level 6 award and will follow naturally from a level 5 business course.

Class based tuition is supplemented by the student's own learning at home or in the college computer rooms, working in small groups outside of class time and attendance at tutorials. Work placement is a necessay part of this course

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Entrants should have completed a level 5 business/administrative course or equivalent. Suitably qualified applicants will be asked to attend for interview.

COURSE CONTENT

A total of 8 modules are required for the certificate, but It is possible to bring forward some modules from a Level 5 course with you towards this Certificate. Some students are "exempt" from one or more modules if they have already studied and passed other examinations considered equivalent. This can be discussed at interview. The following modules are currently being offered which together with modules brought forward from a level 5 business course will complete the requirements for the Level 6 Certificate:

Word processing
Business management
Managing people
Spreadsheet methods
Computerised accounts
Payroll

FEES

A registration fee of 200 Euros is payable by all entrants to plc courses in Ireland. Those with a medical card, Back to Education Allowance, or a maintenance grant do not have to pay this registration fee. Maintenance grants or Back to Education allowances are available for eligible students

WORK EXPERIENCE

Work experience is an integral element of this course as this is a work based programme. Participants are required to attend work experience one day every week in a relevant vocational setting.

COURSE CERTIFICATION

Upon successful completion of this course participants will be awarded a FETAC Level 6 certificate. Course assessment is based on a mixture of continuous assessment and examination.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

FETAC certification is a nationally recognised Award. Successful participants can apply for employment in a variety of business and administrative settings.

FURTHER EDUCATION AND HIGHER EDUCATION LINKS SCHEME

Participants can progress from this course to Institutes of Technology and to Universities via the higher education links scheme on obtaining a full award.
