CIBTEC CIBTAC AND CIDESCO

A two year full time course consisting of intensive practical and theoretical training leading to internationally recognised qualifications certified by ITEC CIBTAC AND CIDESCO.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Students should be of leaving cert standard, with preferably Biology. There is a high degree of committment required for the course with attendance requirements before being allowed to sit examinations. Students who do not possess the educational requirements but who have a particular interest or experience in Beauty Therapy will be considered. Mature students are welcome. All entry is subject to interview. Entry to year 2 is dependent on success at year 1

COURSE CONTENT

Modules studied: Facial therapy, skin, eye treatment, cosmetic make-up, depilatory treatment, electrical facial treatments, professional conduct, business awareness, communications, reception and work experience. Body Therapy, massage, figure assessment, diet and nutrition, heating treatments and electrical body treatments.

A good mix of practical and theory is achieved throughout the course and students gradually build up their skills by working on each other and then moving to "salon hours" involving bringing in clients for treatments under supervised conditions. There are plenty of opportunities to become involved in college events and activites e.g. providing make-up for fashion shows and musical performances. Students have also entered and been successful in winning national competitions

COURSE CERTIFICATION

The course leads to nationally and internationally recognised qualifications. ITEC, CIBTAC and CIDESCO are the awarding bodies. The college is proud of it's status as an approved centre for these bodies.

CAREER OPPORTUNITES

Past students have gained employment in beauty salons, spas, hotels and pharmacies as well as in their own businesses. Opportunities also exist for work on cruise ships and as sales representatives for beauty products or in teaching.
