FETAC LEVEL 6
COURSE DESCRIPTION
This is a one year course designed to enhance the knowledge and skills of those working or volunteering in community based organisations. Work placement is a necessay part of this course
ENTRY REQUIREMENTS
Working knowledge and experience in community organisations is expected. Applicants will be asked to attend for interview.
COURSE CONTENT
A total of 7 modules are required for the certificate. The following modules are currently being offered.
community development practice
community development theory
group work theory and practice
conflict management
social analysis
policy making in the voluntary sector
management and leadership in community organisations
FEES
A registration fee of 200 Euros is payable by all entrants to plc courses in Ireland. Those with a medical card or a maintenance grant do not have to pay this registration fee. Maintenance grants or Back to Education allowances are available for eligible students
WORK EXPERIENCE
Work experience is an integral element of this course as this is a work based programme. Participants are required to attend work experience one day every week in a relevant vocational setting.
COURSE CERTIFICATION
Upon successful completion of this course participants will be awarded a FETAC Level 6 certificate. Course assessment is based on continuous assessment.
CAREER OPPORTUNITIES
FETAC certification is a nationally recognised Award. Successful participants can apply for employment in comminity and voluntary organisations.
FURTHER EDUCATION AND HIGHER EDUCATION LINKS SCHEME
Participants can progress from this course to Institutes of Technology and to Universities via higher education links scheme on obtaining a full award.
